Course Overview

The Carpentry Course will allow you to become a certified individual in the Construction Industry with a focus on Carpentry. It will start with a prerequisite class that teaches the basics for the construction trade followed by an introduction to carpentry then finish with a carpentry and framing class. With the guidance of our industry professionals, students will take a test at the end of each class to become certified by the National Center for Construction Educations and Research (NCCER), which is recognized nationally in the United States.

Orientation to the Trade • Building Materials, Fasteners & Adhesives • Hand & Power Tools • Introduction to Construction Drawing, Specifications & Layouts • Floor Systems • Wall Systems • Ceiling Joist & Roof Framing • Basic Stair Layout • Introduction to Building Envelope Systems

Carpentry Level 2:

Commercial Drawings • Roofing Applications • Thermal & Moisture Protection • Exterior Finishing • Cold-Formed Steel Framing • Drywall Installation • Drywall Finishing • Doors & Door Hardware • Suspended Ceilings • Window, Door, Floor & Ceiling Trim • Cabinet Installation

Carpentry Level 3:

Properties of Concrete • Rigging Equipment • Rigging Practices • Trenching & Excavating • Reinforcing Concrete • Foundations & Slabs-On-Grade • Vertical Formwork • Handling & Placing Concrete • Tilt-Up Wall Panels

Carpentry Level 4:

Site Layout One (Differential Leveling) • Site Layout Two (Angular & Distance Measurement) • Advance Roof Systems • Advanced Wall Systems • Introduction to Oxyfuel Cutting & Arc Welding • Site Preparation • Fundamentals of Crew Leadership
