NMTech’s Steve Sablan and Luis Deleon Guerrero spent February 14th, 2022 through February 16th, 2022 attending a 24-hour Disaster Response Advanced First Aid (DRAFA) training under the University of Colorado. The course taught the proper procedures for assessing an area after a disaster to ensure safety for the rescue team, checking a patient’s airway, monitoring the patient’s breathing and vitals, treating an injury, as well as prioritizing and taking notes when assessing the injury.

“THE KNOWLEDGE I GAINED WAS WORTH WHILE AND IT WAS A GREAT EXPERIENCE.”

– STEVE SABLAN

On February 23rd 2022, NMTech faculty, staff and students, along with Island Summer Auto Fest and Team Exotic Minis, Marianas Chapter donated clothes, food, water and toys to the Tonga Society of the CNMI to help our neighboring island of Tonga from the Hunga Tonga–Hunga Ha’apai volcano eruption and the tsunami that occurred earlier this year. We hope the donations of the community helped alleviate the struggles Tonga experienced.
